Carnival is a period of time when everything can happen. It is the moment in which the demonstration though the joy and the lack if inhibitions show their presence. Carnival is not a show to watch; it invades us and invites us to experience it. Those who are playing and dancing are not the real protagonists but the masters of ceremony in a party that is carried out among all the people present. Are two the Argentinean regions that have carnival in their blood and they celebrate it in very different ways: the Litoral and the Argentinean North West. There are also some Porteños neighborhoods where comparsas (social club's carnival dance group) cover long avenues.
In Litoral, a complete year of work in the different comparsas is presented in some days in which each of the members are at their best. Joy, color, rhythm and beauty turn the corsódromo (carnival runway) and the streets into a never-ending party.
In Entre Ríos province the carnival has its manifestations in Gualeguaychu, where is carried out the Carnival of the Country with a corsódromo built especially for this occasion and in the localities of: Gualeguay, Victoria, Concepción del Uruguay, Santa Elena, Concordia, Paraná, Hasenkamp and Chajarí. .
In the Capital of Corrientes province is celebrated the Capital National Party of the Carnival in which converge several festivals of other localities such us Paso de los Libres, Monte Caseros wits its luxury Carnival of Arts makes a curious mixture of rhythms of batucada and candombe; Santo Tomé; Paso de la Patria; La Cruz; Curuzú Cuatiá; Mercedes, Esquina, Goya, Alvear, Bella Vista and Empedrado.
In the Argentinean North West the carnaval is celebrated too. Nothern carnivals last 8 days with their comparsas, colorful masks and outfits. Carnivals have one of the most important places among the popular celebrations in this region together with the Patronal Festival of each locality.
Carnivals are a popular manifestation led in America by the Spanish Conquest that fuse with other modalities of celebrating the Earth´s fertility in the aboriginal towns. The influence of the survival of 7 native ethnic groups allow the continuity of this celebration that starts with the Celebration of Arete or flowering of corn, opportunity that marks the moment of excitement and development of the Pim Pim.
In the regions of La Puna and Humahuaga Gully, the carnaval is represented by the Devil that disinterred himself in a noisy way from a magic place, toasting and dancing at the rhythm of music, behind the comprarsas, thorugh out the streets.
In the North región of Salta, young men go into the rainforest with wooden masks. The representation of good and evil also has place in these parties.
Humahuaca, Tilcara, La Quiaca, Purmamarca and all the towns in Jujuy show their happiness during Carnival and their Patronal Festivals.
