It can be gained access to La Carolina circulating by Provincial Route #9 or following the route from the Cavern Inti Huasi by Provincial Route #39. This mining town located 83 kilometers away from San Luis is situated to the foot of Tomolasta Hill (2018 meters heigh). Most of the houses in the town are built in stone of the zone or in adobe, with a main street that remains like in the glorious century of this village in which gold was sought. In Tomolasta Hill of 2018 meters above the sea level, are the mine entrances or tunnels, from which was extracted the gold-bearing mineral in the antiquity. The Stream Carolina is mixed with the oxide of the water from the hill and form Amarillo Stream.
