In the locality Carpinteria, to the south of Merlo, we can observe Blanco Hill. It is a hill covered with white stones and is gained access to it by the slope of Carpinteria, a road used in old times to descend with mules the wolfram collected in the mines. After 3 hours and a half of horse ride we arrive at the summit with its 2200 meters above the sea level, obtaining an imposing view of Conlara Valley.
Also in Carpinteria we can visit the Monastery of Belen de Asuncion de La Virgen and de San Bruno. The congregation of the Nuns Belen de Asuncion de La Virgen and de San Bruno have a monastery that is formed by two houses: the upper house and the lower house both constitute an only monastery but have different use. The church is the center of each house. There can be received the families of monks or nuns, friends of the monastery, visitors and friends that do not come with the intention of remaining in silence and solitude. All of them can enter the Sanctuary of Eucharistic Adoration and join with the silent adoration of monks or nuns. There is a crafts sale sector that they themselves carve delicately with marfilina and dolomite. Some of the exquisite objects that they offer were made by the nuns in the headquarters of their congregation, in France. They paint icons of Christ, the Virgin and the Saints, according to the tradition of East and Romanesque or Gothic sculptures, conceived according to the tradition of West in the gold age of sacred art.
