Huerta Grande is a town in which the well-kept private gardens scattered in a land of smooth undulations and mountain ranges stand out.
Several streams have their sources in the slopes and end at the San Francisco River. Places worth visiting: Cascada de los Olmos, enclosed in the Small Mountain Ranges (Sierras Chicas) 1,107 m high, which supplies potable water to Huerta Grande. The Botanic Gardens Doctor Miguel Culaciati, 668 San Martín Street. In 1929 Dr. Culaciati began to turn the premises into a park and in 1989 his son created the Private Botanical Gardens there, with 24,000 sq m and enclosing over 200 classified species.
The Fundación Botánica Conservacionista Argentina (Argentine Conservation Botanic Foundation) has its headquarters there. The ranch La Berna is also a very interesting place. It is a farm that dates from 1894 and keeps tools to make wine from colonial times. Many houses of the region are over one hundred years old, some give accommodation and other serve delicious teas with confectionery specialties. There are home made jams and jellies and tasty goat cheese, pickling brines and liquors. Here you can also do trekking, rides or travel in 4x4.

Antiguamente, la localidad que hoy conocemos como Huerta Grande era el Paraje Ojos de Agua. Fue adquirido por Don Cornelio Caldevila en 1789. Por aquellos tiempos, los habitantes trabajaban la tierra como actividad central.
En el año 1892, se crea la Estación Ferroviaria y las bombas para el abastecimiento de agua, eventos que marcaron el inicio del trazado del Pueblo. En aquel entonces Huerta Grande era una de las pocas localidades habitadas de la provincia de Córdoba.
Durante 1895, se funda una Escuela Rural de Varones y Mujeres, una Botica, única en toda la zona, Almacén de Ramos Generales y se abre una calle que uniría desde la estación de ferrocarril hasta el terreno donado para la construcción de la Iglesia.
Surgió así la iniciativa de desarrollo de la población y con ello la venta de lotes que se transformaron en viviendas permanentes y residencias veraniegas. Son dos las industrias que más tarde se destacarían por su intenso progreso, la industria de la piedra, con la elaboración de material granítico y fundamentalmente, el turismo en Huerta Grande.
