One of the wealthiest resorts in Punilla Valley.
It lies on the nearby National Route 38, 78 km from the Capital City of Córdoba. There is a wide range of choices regarding to hotels, restaurants and amusement.
With regard to accomodation, there are over 6.000 beds in hotels and cabins and over 2.500 in houses to let and camping fields.
Among cultural attractions, outstands the church of Santísimo Sacramento, an impressive neo-Romantic style temple that lies on the highest region of the city and Eden Hotel, an old hotel built in the late 19th century where very important people such as Albert Einstein (1925), Wales and Saboya princes, and several Argentine presidents (Julio Roca, Figueroa Alcorta, Agustín Justo, Ortiz) have stayed.
Other important places to visit are: the Pierre de Coubertin Sports Museum, the Miniature Railway Museum, the Old Miner Museum (showing a collection of the typical minerals of the country) and the Ambato Argentine Archaeological Museum that displays a unique collection of items from the pre-ceramic period. Also important are La Falda Dam and the ¨Las Siete Cascadas¨ resort.
Westwards, 20 km from La Falda, you find Pampa de Olaen with the Olaen Falls and its natural resort and Santa Bárbara Chapel, built by Jesuits between 1748 and 1756.
Following further westwards there is Characato, a hill 1.300 m high, 37 km from La Falda. This is a very nice place with rocky formations from which light blue marble is mined and exported to Italy.
Sagrado Corazón Chapel, on Eden Avenue, was the first church in La Falda. It was entirely built in stone at the beginning of the 19th century. |

Esta zona de las sierras de Córdoba fue un antiquísimo paradero indígena cuyos vestigios datan de 8000 años atrás. De la época colonial posterior a la conquista, queda en pie la Capilla de Santa Bárbara, una construcción del siglo XVIII, con una pequeña escalerilla que conduce al campanario. En su interior se conservan piezas religiosas y los dichos populares mencionan grandes tesoros enterrados allí por los jesuitas.
Estas tierras formaron parte, durante el siglo XVIII, de la Estancia de Olaen, transferidas más tarde a la orden religiosa de frailes Bethlemitas
Sin embargo, la historia de La Falda se encuentra íntimamente ligada a la construcción del Hotel Edén realizada en la última década del siglo XIX. Por allí pasaron figuras internacionales com el Príncipe de Gales, Albert Einstein, el Presidente Roca o las bailarinas del Foilies Berger de París.
El hotel fue terminado en 1897 y estaba organizado de tal manera que podía autoabastecerse por completo. Desarrolló huertas, criadero de animales, fábrica de embutidos y hasta una planta de generación de electricidad. La época de mayor esplendor fue entre la segunda década de este siglo y la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este hotel fue escenario de grandes acontecimientos y recibió la visita de grandes personalidades como Albert Einstein, el Duque de Saboya, los presidentes argentinos Roca y Figueroa Alcorta, entre otros.
En la década del 60 fue clausurado y desmantelado, y sufrió un largo periodo de abandono. Actualmente se encuentra en restauración por parte del municipio de la falda que es su actual dueño.
El nombre que lleva esta ciudad en la actualidad lo adquirió en 1914, al habilitarse la primera oficina postal, y en 1934 se crea finalmente el municipio. Recién el 6 de diciembre de 1969, Villa La Falda fue reconocida como ciudad.
