A place with excellent golden sand beaches, on the river of the same name, in the valley of Calamuchita, 95 kilometers from the city of Cordoba.
a typical mountain town, with predominance of Creole population with deep-rooted customs and traditions, where the horse, mate, locro and the celebrations of the patron Saint´s day are their local symbols.
In entering the town, the visitor will feel taken to another time. Its colonial streets and buildings are witnesses of this fact. One of the characteristic buildings is the pulpería (local store), a meeting point with friends surrounded by a scent of history.
But, without doubt, the special jewel is the chapel that dates from 1738, date when Argandoña bishop blessed its altar. This is oldest in the valley.
The main street of the town made up the Way of the Troops, that linked Cordoba with Río Cuarto and has been named so because besides carts and cattles, the troops of the Army traveled along it. Those troops also walked across the bridge that the government of the Province constructed in 1929 with the cooperation of the sappers of the Fourth Division of the Army. In August of the past year it was named San Ignacio de Loyola Bridge.
The special feature of this town is its extensive and calm river with its beaches.
Besides offering a space to spend a beautiful country day, it offers from cabins and camp grounds, as well as dinning-rooms, and a restaurant, located in different points in the town.

.. Historia (subir) |
