It is one of the last beaches of the Buenos Aires Atlantic coast and lies at the south of the province. Monte Hermoso is a family resort that encloses over 32 km of sea-side.
The strong wind lets the practice of windsurf. Due to the extension of the beach, you can do regattas and jet ski there. Fishing with tackle or net is also an attraction.
Natural Sciences and Naval Museums are waiting for your visit. The Paseo del Pinar is a newly opened forest reserve with a health circuit where you can do phisical activities. At night, the Casino is the main attraction. Five kilometers from the city, we can enjoy Sauce Grande Resort and 7 km from the city, the Sauce Grande Lagoon, where you can fish and do water sports. |

El nombre Monte Hermoso hace referencia a un médano que alcanzó a medir 36 metros de altura y era visible a gran distancia. Es el referente de la zona.
Hasta el 19 de setiembre de 1935 el balneario y su villa pertenecieron al municipio de Bahía Blanca. En esa fecha pasaron a ser jurisdicción de Coronel Dorrego. Don Antonio B. Costa, fue el sucesor en la propiedad del hotel "Monte Hermoso" e impulsor del progreso del balneario con las edificaciones y la forestación.
La villa no detuvo su crecimiento y en 1975 fue declarada ciudad. A partir de ese momento, sus habitantes coincidieron en la necesidad de administrar sus propios recursos. Finalmente, el 1º de abril de 1979 fue creado el municipio urbano de Monte Hermoso y a partir de mayo de 1983 se denominó oficialmente, partido de Monte Hermoso.
