It is one of the quiet and colorful localities of Calamuchita Valley. Located about 120 kilometers from the City of Cordoba, it is a privileged place since it has a lake and a river.
The of the Tercero River dam bathes its extensive coast, from the municipal resort -with lifeguard services, infrastructure and toilets- to Playa de los Alemanes, a spectacular bay with crystal-clear waters and sand. Likewise, Santa Rosa River has a very nice beach with sand in El Corcovado district, which can be reached by a detour from route 5.
The lake is suitable for all the nautical activities that you can imagine: ski, windsurf, jet-ski, sailing a boat, etc. Swimming is an unavoidable appointment every January during each lake festival, where hundreds of swimmers cross the lake. At the camp ground, you can hire an excursion to fish on board a boat.
Along the lake coast, roadside bars have been settled and there you can enjoy a drink or a fast food from midday to the evening.
A circuit worthy of doing in the city is the climbing of the hill with the same name, that can be done by foot or by car. On the top, you will find a beautiful view of the town, the lake and its surroundings.
Villa Rumipal is within the circuit of the Valle Azul de los Grandes Lagos.

Rumipal tiene una historia precolombina y una historia arraigada a la inmigración centroeuropea que se asentó en la serranía cordobesa.
Por un lado, podemos decir que en Rumipal encontramos innumerables yacimientos precolombinos, algunos arqueólogos la definen como la Pompeya de Córdoba y otros como un Santuario Arqueológico. En diversos sitios identificados se encuentran flechas de piedra, morteros de piedra, raspadores, cuchillos, alisadores, estatuillas, pipas de piedra.
Pero el desarrollo turístico de Rumipal se disparó en los años treinta del siglo pasado cuando Gustavo Riemann, apodado “Loco”, decidió fundar allí una localidad turística. Riemann era alemán e ingeniero civil contratado por la Empresa Siemmens para unas obras de reparación hidroeléctrica. Compró unos campos (los campos del “Loco”), y decidió fundar una localidad turística que fue inaugurada el 6 de Setiembre de 1930. Ya en 1933 la Villa contó con luz eléctrica.
