San Esteban is at kilometer 804 of national route 38, spine of the valley of Punilla, and 1,024 meters above the sea level.

The perimeter of the town extends from route 38 towards the west, to the Dolores River, formed by waters of the Cruz Grande Stream and San Jerónimo River, that together with other streams drain into the Cruz del Eje Dam.

The town has a dry climate, but the proximity of the stream makes this town a fertile place, with average temperatures of 23º C in summer and 12º C below zero, in winter.

It is a colorful and peaceful town, located 99 kilometers from the Capital City, only eight kilometers from Capilla del Monte and nine from La Cumbre.

As in all mountain towns, its inhabitants are warm and friendly.

This place has many big houses, most of them colonial style, visited in summer and during winter holidays.

Two kilometers from San Esteban we find Dolores, and this closeness makes it look like a sort of neighborhood of the first. But in fact, both have a common origin in which clergy and ranchers lineages merged.

According to the dispositions of Don Esteban Cabanillas, dated December 12th, 1761, San Esteban and Dolores were ranches. The first enclosed the railway station and later inheritances determined that the original premises were transferred to extend the railway lands. The rest of the land was divided into lots and most of them were acquired by Felipe Otero Costa.

How to arrive/Toll

By national route 20 (divided highway) From Cordoba to Villa Carlos Paz; from there, by national route 38 to La Cumbre and Los Cocos. Opposite to this village, across the route, is San Esteban (99 km).

Tolls: Divided highway to Villa Carlos Paz, $ 1; national route 38, (Molinari), $ 1.20 (in North South direction it is free); national route 38, Villa Giardino, $1.20 (both ways pay).

By provincial route E-55 from Córdoba to La Calera (18 Km), rock face of San Roque Dam and Bialet Massé, where you turn right and take national route 38 to La Cumbre, then Los Cocos and San Esteban (96 km).

Toll: six km from Córdoba in front of Las Delicias, $ 1; on national route 38, as far as Molinari, $ 1,20 (South-North direction is free); national route 38, Villa Giardino, $ 1,20 (both ways pay).
