75 km from the City of Santiago del Estero, on the bank of Dulce River we find the most important spa resort in the Argentine Republic and the largest in South America: Rio Hondo Thermal Springs.
This region is rich in aquifers of water fortified with salt and minerals that make up one of the most important therapeutic systems in the world. Several muscle, bone and body conditions are treated making the patient bathe in public and private pools scattered about the city.
There are many other options here such as sailing and fishing in Lago Embalse Dam, playing golf at the Municipal Field, riding, etc. The most popular sport done in this dam is Power Boat.
Rio Hondo Frontal Dam is situated at the boundary between Tucumán and Santiago del Estero. Salí River´s course is interrupted by the concrete wall of the frontal dam of Río Hondo. Besides fishing, the perfect surface of the water is special for water sports. |

| Termas de Río Hondo fue declarado como ciudad recién en septiembre de 1954 pero obtuvo su autonomía en 1958. Sin embargo, su perfil de ciudad turística comienza a desarrollarse a fines del siglo XIX con la construcción del primer alojamiento en 1884.En 1932 por iniciativa provincial se traza el ejido del pueblo, que constituye hoy el centro de la ciudad. |
