The region of the Delta is located to the northeast of Buenos Aires province and comprises the islands: the Delta of El Tigre and San Fernando; the Delta of Paraná de las Plamas and La Plata. It is also formed by hundreds of rivers, and streams.
Hundreds of islands linked by straits and extensive water courses form this region that is characterized for its vegetation and the variety of birds that inhabit it. The transportation in the area is carried out by launches that can be rented in the surrounding area of the two large referring localities of the Delta: Tigre and San Fernando.
The Port of Tigre is located at the edge of the delta and is the starting point for tours and excursions in launch. From there ships set sail to Island Martin Garcia and to the cities of Carmelo and Nueva Palmira, in Oriental Republic of Uruguay. Launches-buses travel through permanently form the Delta transporting inhabitants and tourists that can carry out the complete tour in 3 hours approximately. Launches-taxi are rented privately and their price is determined for boat not per person
From Tigre leave excursions to Island Martin Garcia, located between two large channels: the Channel of El Infierno (to the east) and the Channel of Buenos Aires (to the West and South). The island is a big ecological reserve rich in historic places. We can visit the house that occupied the poet Rubén Darío, where the president Arturo Frondizi was prisoner in 1962, the Historic Museum, the house where the former president Juan Domingo Perón was under arrest, the Lighthouse and the Monument to the Argentine-Uruguayan Confraternity.
