Architecture, gastronomy and Central European customs 89 km southwards the Capital City of Córdoba.
Its first name was ¨El Sauce¨ (The Willow). In 1932, these lands were purchased by Central European immigrants and they, along with Spaniards and Italians made up a community that named : Villa Calamuchita. In 1940, the crew of the German battleship Admiral Graf Spee arrived and established permanently in the place. As a tribute to the creator of the Argentine Flag, in 1943 it changed its name for ¨Villa General Belgrano¨.
Architecture, gastronomy and Central European Customs were passed from generation to generation and nowadays all that culture is honored by the idiosyncrasy that characterizes the people of the villa.
Visitors have the possibility of tasting a very special gastronomy all year round. There is also a long schedule of festivals offered to visitors. Alpine chocolate, Viennese pastry and beer are among the excuses to visit Villa General Belgrano once and again.
That affable and extrovert character of the people is shown here by the music and dances that honor the first inhabitants of the villa.
Tourist find here a very solid hotel infrastructure, as well as a very wide range of quality and services.
To reach this place: you must drive by Provincial Route 5 from Córdoba to Alta Gracia; Villa Anisacate; Villa Ciudad de América; Embalse Los Molinos, Villa General Belgrano (88 kilometers). There is a toll barrier 11 km from Córdoba, $ 1. by National Route 36: from Córdoba to Almafuerte; then, by Provincial Route E63 to Embalse and from this place, by Provincial Route 5 to Santa Rosa de Calamuchita and Villa General Belgrano. This choice lets us visit more tourist places (Villa del Dique, Villa Rumipal) but the trip is longer (147 km). Toll barrier: 11 km from Córdoba, $ 1; before Dique Piedras Moras, $ 1,75.

La zona que actualmente ocupa Villa General Belgrano era un asentamiento comechingón que luego de la conquista de los españoles y la llegada de los jesuitas se denominó Colonia Paraje "El Sauce".
Durante el periodo de la gran inmigración a fines del siglo XIX y principios del siglo XX pasa a llamarse "Villa Calamuchita". Durante esa época se puebla de inmigrantes que llegan desde España, Italia, Francia y algunos de Alemania. Será en el periplo que abarcado entre 1932 y 1937 que se observa una pronunciada corriente inmigratoria centroeuropea (alemanes, suizos, húngaros, checoslovacos y austríacos), gente de habla alemana que viene huyendo del hambre, de la guerra y de las persecuciones ideológicas.
Llegan a la zona atraídos por el proyecto que lanzan quienes son considerados los fundadores: Paul Friedrich Heintze y Jorge Kappuhn. Ellos pensaban crear una colonia agrícolo- ganadera autoabastecida. Pero es el desarrollo de un microemprendimiento de turismo escolar el que permitirá otorgar el perfil turístico de lo que llamarán de ahora en adelante: Villa General Belgrano.
A partir de la década del sesenta se perfila como un pueblo de festividades típicas del país de origen de los inmigrantes como la Fiesta de la Cerveza, Fiesta de la Masa Vienesa, Fiesta del Chocolate Alpino, Feria Navideña y Carnaval Tirolés.
