Villa Maria is located in the geographical center of Argentina, Province of Cordoba. About 150 km separate it in the Capital City and offers a first class tourist infrastructure.
The city combines stunning buildings that retain their architectural and cultural values with substantial growth of modern buildings like the Library and Media Center Municipal "Mariano Moreno", towers and residential buildings over sublevel joining the city in its heart, under Railroad tracks. Major commercial and cultural centers that are waiting to take good memories.
On the bank of the river lies an extensive Ctalamuchita coast over 16 km, large green spaces, sandy beaches and lake. The amphitheater and its surrounding areas are the postcard of Villa Maria better known.

El territorio ocupado actualmente por Villa María fue donado, en ese entonces ya existía la Estancia del Paso de Ferreyra que perteneció a Lorenzo Suárez de Figueroa. Por el año 1839, fue comprada por un comerciante de la ciudad de Buenos Aires, Don Mariano Lozano.
Pasó luego a manos de Don Manuel Anselmo Ocampo, quien tiempo después fundó la ciudad de Villa María. Trazó el plano en sus tierras del Paso de Ferreyra el 25 de septiembre de 1867 y los envió al Gobierno de Córdoba junto con el plano de la futura ciudad de Villa María.
