Its official name is Reservoir "General Belgrano" but it is better known as dike "Cabra Corral" because of the spot that was flooded to form it. It is the second larger reservoir of Argentina, the main water reserve of the Argentine Northwest, and is located 65 kilometers from Salta city.
The water of this reservoir irrigates large extensions of land in Salta and in Santiago del Estero. Nevertheless, in it there is also a space for the recreational use. All kinds of aquatic sports are practiced very frequently going from fishing up to navigation. In Juramento River is possible to carry out rafting with several levels of difficulty.
In the outskirts of the reservoir are practiced mountain sports like trekking, crossings, mountaineering, climbing and mountain bike. Activities connected with the ecotourism as horse-ridding, photographic safaris, sight of birds and rural tourism are offered in some near establishments. Some excursions include guided tours to paintings cave as the ones that are observed in the Caves of Ablomé.
