The National Handicraft Festival is carried out in February in Colón and it has perspectives to be become a Latin-American festivity. At present is the maximum event of the country in its specialty. Its history is initiated in the '60s when local artisans began meeting in an annual festival that first was regional, then provincial and from the last 22 years it has extended to all the country.
Besides being a fair in which thousands of artisans from all the continent expose their work, the Festival is composed also of important artistic and musical shows that complement the exposition with presentations of national very well known artists.
