It is located in the locality of San Lorenzo, 31 kilometers from Rosario. The convent was under construction when in its neighborhood on February 3, 1813, the historic Battle of San Lorenzo took place, between the Spanish troops and the Grenadiers to the command of General José de San Martin.
The assembly of works is composed by the Convent, the Church, the Seminar, the School of Nuestra Señora de la Misericordia and San Carlos School. These buildings include the main cloisters, refectories, cells, among them the ones that occupied the Liberator Mr. Jose de San Martin. Besides there is a library, Room Of Profundis and other rooms.
In the place at present functions the Historic Museum of Convent San Carlos, which has several exposition rooms. These include Capilla Antigua, with a sample of religious art; Conventual Cemetery, where are the graves of the dead religious; and a coffin, indicated with the National Shield, that contains the remainders of the soldiers fallen in the Battle of San Lorenzo.
Campo de la Gloria -Field of the Glory- is another of the historic places close to the convent. It occupies four blocks that were ceded in homage to the action developed in San Lorenzo on February 03, 1813, first and only fact of arms of General San Martin in country ground.
