Tren de las Nubes is an international attraction of the Salta city. It departures from the rail station of the city and arrives at Viaduct of La Polvorilla. Its name refers to the height of its tracks that reach 4,200 meters height above the sea level, what turns it to be one of the highest trains of the world.
Its tours are scheduled every Saturdays from April to November, in summer is suspended because of the rain. In order to travel it is compulsory to present ID or passport; and it is recommended to reserve the tour in advance. It counts on dinner service on board, translators and medical assistance in case of any problem with some passengers due to the lack of oxygen that height causes.
The tour takes about fifteen hours, from seven in the morning to approximately midnight or more. Do not worry if you could not reserve the tour because two alternatives are offered to carry out the same journey: in 4x4 or a trip in a freight train.
